Aconteceu na noite de 6 de janeiro mais uma das infindáveis premiações para filmes, astros e estrelas do momento, o 36º People’s Choice Awards. Os grandes vencedores da noite foram Sandra Bullock por Atriz Favorita e Filme Favorito, ambas pela produção A Proposta, e Johnny Depp como Ator Favorito.

Um momento estranho que se deu no evento foi a declaração de Sacha Baron Cohen ao entregar o premio para Johnny Depp. Ele disse:

“Johnny Depp não segue tendências, ele as cria…  Seu filme sobre Willy Wonka do século 19 foi aceitável para um cara estranho de meia idade em chamar a atenção de crianças e oferecê-las doces. Ainda neste ano ele fará um papel em Alice no País das Maravilhas que felizmente será aceitável para um cara estranho de meia-idade em convidar jovens garotas para tomar um chá e oferecê-las drogas alucinónegas.”
